The Surface Nanoscience and Sensor Technology
section of the Naval Research Laboratory specializes in
- Basic and applied research in surface science, the mechanical properties
of materials, the molecular basis of adhesion, film nucleation and growth,
and chemical/biological sensors;
- Development of tip-based probes for studies in the area of nanostructures
and nanomechanics of surfaces and single molecules; and
- Development of new surface/interface analysis techniques for structural
and chemical analysis of materials.
